1 Seed Selection

Every crop begins with carefully selected varieties chosen for performance, storage longevity, and specific customer needs. Variety selection is based on experience, field history, and extensive on-farm testing to ensure consistency from the start.
2 Preperation & Growing

Fields are carefully prepared for planting, providing ideal conditions for uniform emergence and consistent nutritional availability, laying the foundation for a uniform crop. During the growing season, fields are closely monitored with boots in the field and eyes on the crop. We utilize drip irrigation and targeted agronomic practices to provide the crop with exactly what it needs, when it needs it, and only where it needs it.
3 Harvest

Onion harvest is coordinated to ensure long-term storage performance and product quality. Timing and handling during harvest are critical to preserving quality and mitigating risk to the crop. We continually invest in state-of-the-art equipment to safely, efficiently, and gently handle the onions at precisely the right time without compromising food safety or quality.
4 Storage & Monitoring

Once harvested, onions are transferred to controlled storage environments designed to maintain stable temperature and humidity. Careful storage management allows our onions to remain stable and dependable over time. Throughout the storage season, conditions are continuously monitored and each lot is evaluated for key quality characteristics. This attention to detail allows us to ship only onions that meet the expectations of our customers and the standards we maintain across our operation.

Food Safety
Food safety is a core part of our operation from field production through storage and packing. Producing safe, carefully grown onions is a responsibility we take seriously at every level of the process, meeting strict standards across the operation. Our processes are designed to protect product integrity and provide full traceability.
Our farm and packing operations are independently audited to, and strive to exceed, the PrimusGFS food safety standard, a globally recognized benchmark for fresh produce safety. These audits verify that our operation meets strict food safety requirements and maintains consistent, documented processes.
100% of L & L Ag’s onions are grown using drip irrigation, which limits direct water contact with the crop and helps reduce food safety risks associated with overhead irrigation.
